Adventurous training and sport are an integral part of life in W (Westminster Dragoons) Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry. All members of the squadron are expected to participate in squadron and regimental adventurous training, although you do not need to be an avid sportsman in order to join.

The adventurous training we do varies from year to year.  But it could involve any discipline, so long as it fosters team spirit, competitiveness and physical courage.

Every year, the Royal Yeomanry participates in an annual ski adventurous training exercise (Exercise SNOW FOX) in February in Verbier, France.  W Sqn RY also takes part in an annual House of Commons/House of Lords tug of war competition.  In addition, the RY regimental sailing club conducts its own training and takes part in the Royal Armoured Corps sailing expeditions. In the last few years, regimental adventurous training has included abseiling, clay pigeon shooting and cycling (in France and South Africa).

For those more keen on watching sport than participating in it, we attend the Army and Navy rugby match and Army boxing competitions each year.
