Well, its been an interesting few days. More probing of Musa Qala. on
Wednesday, my vehicle got RPG'd. Myself and my troop 3 bar wagon were stuck in some irrigated fields/ wadis trying to find a way over to some high ground. Obviously our predicament was spotted and a round come our way.
Luckily it missed by a couple of foot. What a bang though. I can tell you I
dropped those gears pretty rapid to motor out of that one. Our traverse was knackered also but at least we got clear. It would have been nice to nail the culprit but it turns out it was fired from the opposite direction we thought - so it’s just as well we didn’t brass up the wrong area.
The temperature has dropped of off late and a wet and miserable weather front has appeared which isn’t much fun but I suppose it dampens down the dust.
I spoke with Dan the other day who is fine. It was at the back end of a
night march which wasn’t much fun. Driving through a monocle out here can be pretty hairy.
As you know my leave (if we get it) kicks in soon and I’m hoping to pop in for a beer or six.
Well there isn't much else I can tell you at the moment. Things don't vary a great deal out here from day to day, least of all the rations.
