Sports & Social

For the Westminster Dragoons and the rest of the Royal Yeomanry regiment, the social element has always been important.

Every Wednesday night after training the Boys' Bar opens and acts as a focal point for post-training libation. In addition, the Officers' and Sergeants' Messes hold regular dinners and social events.

Each year the Boys' Bar runs a black tie party to say thank you to all the partners of the squadron's members.

Annually there are also the Old Comrades' Association Dinner, which reunites former WDs with the current squadron and the Jerusalem Dinner, the Officers' and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers' celebration of the Westminster Dragoons' entry into Jerusalem in 1917. The squadron's officers also attend several regimental dinners and balls during the year.

For more active entertainment (open to officers and soldiers) there are: an annual ski adventurous training exercise (Exercise SNOW FOX) in February in Verbier, an annual House of Commons/House of Lords tug of war competition and the regimental sailing club.
